Essential Unit Questions

1.) While the writers have their own sense of optimism and individualism they also express it in their very own writings just as whatever is in the head will come out of the mouth. They mainly, since they have control of the characters' personality, infuse their own traits into the story through their "little pawns" in the story. The characters are most of the time are different then society and are out of the ordinary. For example Icabod Crane in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. He is much different then the people that usually show up at this establishment. He shows much interest in the people who live their and wants to help them by providing their children knowledge. So they show what the basis of romantics in the character of their stories.
2.) Romanticism is a style of writing that pertains to old arts and language that "reminds the reader of those times" when arts and language where more loved and appreciated. Gothic and Southern are just a an added spin onto romanticism. They both normally have a setting in "not modern times" and use old wording and language. The difference between Gothic and southern is that Gothic is dark and demented, But southern normally sets a happier tone, mood, setting, Etc. which makes for a better story (or at least a less wild one).
3.) Well the movements before the southern Gothic happened back in the time before a culture based on farming but when people of newer times need something literary to connect to, the writers changed the tone, mood and everything else to a more "time appropriate" setting that way people could better relate.
4.) Who likes all happy and no humbug once and a while you've just gotta add in some violence, darkness, and dark spiritual forces. Just as I explained in the last answer when people want change in literary elements they get it and this was just another phase in american literature. Another change in writing styles to appeal to the modern public, that's all.
5.) Finally the final question i absolutely think that we still use Gothic based elements to make our story's fables and even truths more intriguing to the reader. I mean look at all their is on T.V. now days, it's all scary movie this scary stories that, i mean who got the idea to bring all this back well everyone has to "feed their gator":-), and that's just what their going to do. I also think that this style was more of a spacial kind of writing in the back then, since the 2000's happened we have gotten more twisted ideas with this style and implanted them into the minds of the public, Because thats what sells and that's what the people like.

Gothic Writers Criticism of Human Nature

Writers of Gothic fiction like to question human nature and its play in life. One of the reasons that these authors ponder so much of the human nature is heir writing style. Somtimes this concept of human nature collides with what they are trying to emphasize on in their story because of the just plain out naturraly oddness of humans and how we function. They might say in this standpoint. What the character in this story (who is human) did was a dumb mistake because of A, B, and C. They like to question the humans ability to think because they deal so much with the supernatuarl in their witing that they start to think of their mind as more complex. I do not think this gives them the write to judge humans natural reactions or thoughts, but that is the nature of writing gothic. It takes you to where you start to think on a higher level.

Sleepy Hollow's capturing of imagination

The short story of sleepy hollow was intended to make a thought that was only, well, a thought and turn it into a story grabbed by one writers imagination. Irving though did not just want his tale to be one that was here today gone tomorrow so what exactly did he do to make his story into one of the most memorable tales of not only his time but of all stories? Well one of the ideas that he decided to include in his story was that he would make it about a loner who awkwardly turns up out of nowhere with a love for this small community that sounds like it doesn't get many visitors, But nobody even bothers to see what benefits are available from this town but this famed Icabod crane takes full advantage of this little own and reaps what he sows. when we say takes advantage of I don't mean in a bad way, Icabod actually gives this town his share of the work while becoming a teacher in the local school so right there you have something that people in those times could long for is a teacher that comes from nowhere to an in need of help society and it also makes for a good story to tell while sitting at the fireplace. Our society sees this tale as a  wonderfully entertaining story and a great piece of literature. We'll also say that this story is a classic of past times since it was once much like for its uniqueness in setting, theme, and tone.

Swing Low Sweet Chariot Blog answer
When your life is put to music it goes by faster, there's almost like a science to it. This helped the slaves to pass work time by keeping their mind of their jobs and this specific tune id you will not only helped keep their minds of their forced occupation and and the hard times of life, But it also reminded them that after they were long gone from this world that they would have a place with no more pain or suffering. This song says a lot about the religious faith of  the people. This song has a lot in it that promotes God and the thoughts of the bible. This was because the slaves could only be expected to put their faith in something that says their will be no pain in the end. Anyways this song is all about a faithful savior coming to save those in pain. This song is noticeably from this time period because it was put into first of all a rhythm that is easy to clap and sing to (believe me I'm band). last of all this song relates all the way today because it shows fist of all the history of the Negros in this country and by this I am in no way trying to bash any races here, But what some people did in the times of early America were pretty harsh and I am only stating the facts, but it shows the history of them and what they have been through. It not only shows what they've been through but it also reminds us and them how far they have progressed in this united country.
