Essential Unit Questions

.) While the writers have their own sense of optimism and individualism they also express it in their very own writings just as whatever is in the head will come out of the mouth. They mainly, since they have control of the characters' personality, infuse their own traits into the story through their "little pawns" in the story. The characters are most of the time are different then society and are out of the ordinary. For example Icabod Crane in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. He is much different then the people that usually show up at this establishment. He shows much interest in the people who live their and wants to help them by providing their children knowledge. So they show what the basis of romantics in the character of their stories.
.) Romanticism is a style of writing that pertains to old arts and language that "reminds the reader of those times" when arts and language where more loved and appreciated. Gothic and Southern are just a an added spin onto romanticism. They both normally have a setting in "not modern times" and use old wording and language. The difference between Gothic and southern is that Gothic is dark and demented, But southern normally sets a happier tone, mood, setting, Etc. which makes for a better story (or at least a less wild one).
.) Well the movements before the southern Gothic happened back in the time before a culture based on farming but when people of newer times need something literary to connect to, the writers changed the tone, mood and everything else to a more "time appropriate" setting that way people could better relate.
.) Who likes all happy and no humbug once and a while you've just gotta add in some violence, darkness, and dark spiritual forces. Just as I explained in the last answer when people want change in literary elements they get it and this was just another phase in american literature. Another change in writing styles to appeal to the modern public, that's all.
.) Finally the final question i absolutely think that we still use Gothic based elements to make our story's fables and even truths more intriguing to the reader. I mean look at all their is on T.V. now days, it's all scary movie this scary stories that, i mean who got the idea to bring all this back well everyone has to "feed their gator":-), and that's just what their going to do. I also think that this style was more of a spacial kind of writing in the back then, since the 2000's happened we have gotten more twisted ideas with this style and implanted them into the minds of the public, Because thats what sells and that's what the people like.
